AchievementsPost No . 1 . Freedom fighters / revolutionaries incarcerated / killed in Andaman islands / Cellular Jail . Barindra Kumar Ghosh or Barindra Ghosh or Barin Ghosh . Born on 5th January , 1880 at Croydon , England was an Indian revolutionary and journalist . He was one of the founding members of Jugantar Bengali weekly , a revolutionary outfit in Bengal . He was younger brother of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh . His ancestral village was Konnagar in Hoogly District of present Bengal . His father Dr Krishnadhan Ghosh was a physician and district surgeon . Barin Ghosh attended school in Deoghar and joined Patna College in 1901 . During these days , he was influenced by his eldest brother Aurobindo Ghosh and drawn towards revolutionary movement . Barin and Bagha Jatin were instrumental in recruiting young revolutionaries from across Bengal . They were all involved in making bombs and collecting arms and ammunition . Following the attempt of killing of Kingsford by Khudiram and Prafulla on 30th April 1908 , the police intensified the investigation leading to the arrest of Barin Ghosh and Aurobindo Ghosh on 2nd May 1908 along with many of his comrades . In the trial, Barin was sentenced to death but was got reduced to life imprisonment. That's how Barin Ghosh was deported to the Cellular Jail in 1909 .Later he was released in 1920 and returned to Calcutta to start a career in journalism. Later he left journalism and started an ashram in Calcutta . Published his memoirs " The tale of my exile - 12 years in Andamans " . In 1923 he moved to Pondicherry to join his brother Aurobindo Ghosh who started an ashram there . In 1929 , again returned to Calcutta and started an English weekly , The Dawn of India . In 1950 , he became the editor of Bengali Daily Dainik Basumati . He passed away on 18th April 19t9 .
