AchievementsRavish Kumar Tiwari (02-09-1981 to 19-02-2022) was born in Emilia village in Deoria district of Utter Pradesh in India. He was an Indian journalist and worked as the Chief of National Bureau of The Indian Express. He also worked for The Economics Times as Senior Assistant Editor, for India Today as Associate Editor, and for The Indian Express as Senior Assistant Editor. Ravish was selected for Rhodes scholarship in 2005 while he was perusing his dual degree (B.Tech plus M.Tech) course from IIT Mumbai. He became the first IIT student to receive the Rhodes scholarship. After his return from Oxford University, Ravish joined The Indian Express as the Principal Correspondent in 2006. He worked in the capacity of Principal Correspondent, Special Correspondent, Assistant Editor, and Senior Assistant Editor in The Indian Express till 2014. In 2014, Ravish joined India Today as Associate Editor and in 2015 joined The Economic Times as the Senior Assistant Editor. In June 2017, he returned to The Indian Express as the Chief of National Bureau - the post which he held till the time of his demise. Ravish died on 19-02-2022 after battling colon cancer for around two years. During his battle with the illness, his family comprising of his parents, his wife Poojya, and his younger brother Manish stood firmly by his side. On his death at the young age of 40, Indian President Mr. Ram Nath Kovind expressed his disappointment saying that his sudden and shocking demise silences a distinct voice in news media. Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi gave his condolence saying that (with his demise) a bright career in the media world comes to an end.
