" With deep sorrow, we inform that Com.B Sasidharan Pillai, Central Committee Member of AICBRF, Regional Secretary of AKCBRA-Kerala, and Executive Committee Member of Quilon Dt. Committee passed away due to heart attack yesterday at Kollam. Born on 28-01-1952, he joined our Bank’s service as Clerk at Sultanbattery branch in hilly ghats Wyanad Dt. on 13-01-1978. While he was working at our Chinnakada Quilon branch during 1983 - 1993, he served as Branch Secretary of Canara Bank Employees’ Union for about 10 years espousing the cause of serving employees effectively. He worked in Trivandrum Circle Office and subsequently displaced to our Konithukunnu branch in Trichur district. In 1994, he was promoted as Scale I Officer and worked in Kolkatta Circle Office. Back to home state in 1997, he served in Convent Road, Quilon branch and Padiyur branch. On promotion to Scale II in the year 2003, he was transferred to Gidighatty (Odisha) branch. Subsequently on re-transfer, he rendered his services at our Anandavalleswaram, Quilon, Karunagapally branches. Finally, he was superannuated as Manager at our Currency Chest, Quilon on 31.01.2012. After retirement from the service of the bank, he evinced keen interest in the retirees’ movement. He was very simple person with unwavering loyalty to the retirees organisations coupled with commitment to espousing the cause of retired employees of our bank and contributed significantly to AICBRF. His amiable nature and retiree-centric orientation endeared himself to persons around him. While we join our Kerala Comrades in mourning the departure of Com.B Sasidharan Pillai, we dip our banner in his memory and pay our respectful homage to him, besides conveying our deep condolence to the bereaved family and members of AKCBRA – Kerala. Senior BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy Passes Away At 65..By Ramakanta Biswas On Oct 4, 2020 - 7:23 AM PM om Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Minister and BJD MLA from Pipili constituency, Pradeep Maharathy passed away at the age of 65 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. The senior BJD leader had reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 on September 14 and was put on ventilator support following deterioration of his health condition Friday evening. Condolence messages started pouring in immediately after the news of his demise surfaced. Maharathy started his political career as a student leader in SCS College, Puri and was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Pipili Assembly constituency for the first time in 1985 on Janata Party ticket. He was elected as a legislator seven times from Pipli out of which five times were on Biju Janata Dal (2000-2019) ticket and once each on Janata Party (1985) and Janata Dal (1990) tickets. As a minister, he held many important portfolios like Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Supply, Agriculture and Fisheries. On January 19, 2012, Maharathy resigned from the post of Agriculture Minister on ‘moral grounds’ after being accused of shielding the accused in the infamous Pipli gangrape case. He again resigned from the post in 2019 following criticism over his controversial remarks on the acquittal of two persons arrested in connection with Pipili gang rape...#...LIFE HISTORY...
