Membership no.354857 Bhisma Pitamaha of Lions of Odisha was the 1st District Governor of District 322C (1979-80) consisting of Odisha and seven revenue district of West Bengal consisting of 13 clubs from Odisha. Cuttack . Veteran & dedicated lion leader Basant Babu was socially known figure of ODISHA having a brilliant academic career as a Law Faculty and the Principal of Lingaraj Law College. He was the President of All Odisha Lawyers Association. He was the founder of Ganjam Kalaparishad and was the Vice Chairman of Berhampur Municipality. Apart from he was the President of Berhampur Co-Operative Urban Bnk, Vice President of VISWA ORIYA SAMILANI and Vice President of Berhampur Disaster Relief Committee etc.
He was honored with SARALA SANMAM, ORYA FILM AWARD and many more. The Writer, Actor, Social Activist, Pioneer of Oriya Language movement and the Veteran Lion Leader Basant Kumar Panigrahi left us for heavenly abode and eventually on his 68th Wedding Anniversary, 1st June 2018..WE EXPRESS OUR CONDOLENCE..
