Karuppu Maya Thevar (15 October 1934 - 9 August 2022 ) was an Indian politician and former Member of Parliament elected from Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. He was the First AIADMK party candidate since its inception to be elected to the Lok Sabha from Dindigul in 1973 by-election. He was selected as a candidate by M.G.Ramachandran, former chief minister of Tamil Nadu.He was the one who chose the iconic double leaf of the AIADMK. Mr K. Mayathevar also known as Mayan / Maya. Former Prime Minister of India Mr.Vajpayee personally calls him as Maya. Basically he is a Highcourt Lawyer, had his schooling at St.Xavier's, Palayamkottai, later had his graduation and Post graduation at Pachayyapa college, chennai and had his BL at Law College Chennai. He was born on 15.10.1934,to Periya KaruppaThevar and Perumayee, at T.Uchappati, Usilampatti, Madurai. Right from his childhood he was very studious and service minded and a voracious reader. Since he was much impressed by the speech of Pasumpon Muthuramalingathevar he followed his ideals. He also admired the unique qualities of Netahaji Subhas Chandra Bose and became a fan of that great patriot. Since 1962 he started practising as Lawyer in the High Court, Chennai and Supreme Court, New Delhi and practised till his last days at District Court, Dindigul. During the 1970s, when he was much involved in social service for the upliftment of downtrodden people, he became much known to the public. This was identified by Dr. M. G. Ramachandran in 1973 and he announced Mr. K. Mayathevar as the candidate for his newly initiated party AIADMK for a by-election. Maya Thevar passed away due to illness.

Surajit Sengupta (30 August 1951 – 17 February 2022) was an Indian footballer who played as a winger. He played for the India national team, representing the country in the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran and the 1978 Asian Games in Bangkok. In a domestic career spanning twelve years between 1971 and 1983, he had represented all three of Calcutta's football clubs, Mohun Bagan FC, East Bengal FC, and Mohammedan Sporting FC, and was considered one of the finest forwards of his time. Sengupta won the IFA Shield and the Calcutta Football League six times each and the Durand Cup thrice while representing East Bengal FC. He received the lifetime achievement award from East Bengal in 2018. Sengupta was born on 30 August 1951, in Chakbazar in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. His father, Suhas Sengupta, was a football and cricket player who worked for Dunlop India. Sengupta studied at the Hooghly Branch School where he was spotted by coach Ashwini Bharat. He went on to study at the Hooghly Mohsin College and made his second division debut for Robert Hudson FC. Sengupta was married to Shyamali Sengupta, with whom he had a son. After his retirement he was involved with the game as a sports editor with a Bengali language magazine writing their football columns. He learnt singing and would play the Tabla with his son. East Bengal coach and former Indian footballer P. K. Banerjee had named him Sócrates after the Brazilian footballer, given his sporting a beard and his varied interests. Sengupta died from COVID-19-related complications on 17 February 2022, at the age of 70.

Pandit Birju Maharaj (born Brijmohan Nath Mishra; 4 February 1938 – 16 January 2022) was an Indian dancer, composer, singer and exponent of the Lucknow "Kalka-Bindadin" Gharana of Kathak dance in India. Maharaj was born Brijmohan Nath Mishra, on 4 February 1937 into a Hindu Brahmin family at Handia of Allahabad district. His father was the Kathak exponent, Jagannath Maharaj, popularly known as Acchan Maharaj of Lucknow gharana and the Kalka-Bindadin family in Lucknow. His father served as the court dancer in Raigarh princely state. Maharaj started dancing early at the age of four, and was trained by his uncles, Lachhu Maharaj and Shambhu Maharaj and his father. He started his performances first at his father's concerts before performing solo at the age of seven in West Bengal. His father died when Maharaj was nine. Maharaj started teaching the dance form at the age of thirteen, at the Sangeet Bharti in New Delhi. He then taught at the Bharatiya Kala Kendra in Delhi, and at the Kathak Kendra (a unit of the Sangeet Natak Akademi) where he was Head of Faculty, and director, retiring in 1998[9] after which he opened his own dance school, Kalashram, also in Delhi. Maharaj was married and had five children. (2 sons and 3 daughters). In later life, Maharaj had kidney disease and diabetes, and received dialysis. He died from a heart attack at his residence in Delhi, on 16 January 2022, less than a month before his 84th birthday.

Salim Ahmad Ghouse (10 January 1952 – 28 April 2022) was an Indian film, television and theatre actor, theatre director, and martial artist. He has acted in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English films. Salim Ghouse was born in Chennai. He studied at the Christchurch School and the Presidency College in Chennai. He was also a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Salim Ghouse is known for his role in the TV series Subah and for playing Rama, Krishna and Tipu Sultan in Shyam Benegal's TV Series Bharat Ek Khoj. He has also worked in TV serial Wagle Ki Duniya. In 1989, he portrayed the villain in the Tamil film Vettri Vizhaa, directed by Pratap Pothen as the rival to Kamal Haasan. He starred alongside Mohanlal in the classic Malayalam movie Thazhvaram, directed by Bharathan. In 1993 he did a villain role in Mani Ratnam's film Thiruda Thiruda, and also acted alongside Madhuri Dixit and Shahrukh Khan in the 1997 film Koyla, then in 2009 he acted in Vettaikaran. He also acted in films like Maharaja and Soldier.

Hemananda Biswal (1 December 1939 – 25 February 2022) was an Indian politician. Biswal served as Chief Minister of Odisha from 7 December 1989 to 5 March 1990, and again from 6 December 1999 to 5 March 2000. He was also the MP of Sundergarh from 2009 to 2014. Biswal was the first Tribal chief Minister of Odisha. Biswal was born in Thakurpada village of Odisha on 1 December 1939, to Basudev and Trimani Biswal. He completed intermediate education from Government College, Sundargarh, and by profession was an agriculturist. In 1974, he was elected for the first time to the Odisha Legislative Assembly and served until 1977. Later, in 1980, he was again elected from the Jharsuguda as MLA, a position he held until 2004. He was the chief minister of Odisha for the first time from 7 December 1989 to 5 March 1990 and for the second time from 6 December 1999 to 5 March 2000. From 2009 to 2014, he was the MP from Sundargarh. Biswal was married to Urmila Biswal and together they had five daughters. He died at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on 25 February 2022 at the age of 82. He suffered from pneumonia prior to his death.

Biswal served as Chief Minister of Odisha from 7 December 1989 to 5 March 1990, and again from 6 December 1999 to 5 March 2000. He was also the MP of Sundergarh from 2009 to 2014. Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu (11 June 1993 – 29 May 2022), better known by his stage name Sidhu Moose Wala, was an Indian singer, rapper, songwriter and actor associated with Punjabi music and Punjabi cinema. Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu hailed from the village of Moosa in Mansa district of Punjab, India. He was born in a Jat Sikh family, to father Balkaur Singh and mother Charan Kaur. He studied at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana and graduated in electrical engineering in 2016. Moose Wala admired and was influenced by rapper Tupac Shakur. He started listening to hip-hop music as a student in sixth grade, and trained in music from Harvinder Bittu in Ludhiana. According to statements he made while campaigning, he choose "Moose Wala" for his stage name as a tribute to his home village of Moosa. After graduation, Moose Wala moved to Brampton, Ontario, Canada as an international student While living there he studied at Sheridan College and Humber College. Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in his car on 29 May 2022 in Jawaharke village of Mansa district.

Mambalikalathil Sarada Menon (5 April 1923 – 5 December 2021) was an Indian psychiatrist, social worker and the founder of Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF), a Chennai-based non-governmental organization working for the rehabilitation of people afflicted with schizophrenia and other mental disorders. An Avvaiyyar Award recipient, she was a former Madras Medical Service officer and the first woman psychiatrist in India. The Government of India awarded her the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1992, for her contributions to society. Menon was born in a Malayali family on 5 April 1923 as the youngest of eight children of her parents in Mangalore, a coastal town in the south Indian state of Karnataka. Her father was a judge and when he was transferred to Chenna. Menon died in Chennai on 5 December 2021, at the age of 98.

Mahendra Prasad (8 January 1940 – 27 December 2021) was an Indian politician from Janata Dal (United) party, a Member of the Parliament of India representing Bihar in the Rajya Sabha. He was the richest Indian MP. Prasad also owned two pharmaceutical companies, Aristo Pharmaceuticals and Mapra Laboratories Pvt Ltd. He died at Apollo Hospital in Delhi on 27 December 2021, at the age of 81. Prasad was born at Govindpur village in the modern Indian state of Bihar. He belonged to Bhumihar family. He had a wife, Satula Devi and has 3 sons Rajv Sharma, Ranjit Sharma and late Devinder. Prasad moved out of his home at the age of 24. He did the work of a teacher in a school. He started his political career in 1980 when he was elected to Lok Sabha on a congress ticket. He was a seven term MP from Bihar who was also once elected to Lok Sabha. He also owned three pharmaceutical companies named Aristo Pharmaceuticals, Aristo Laboratories and Mapra Laboratories Pvt Ltd.

Bhupinder Singh (born Bhupinder Soin, 6 February 1940 – 18 July 2022) was an Indian musician, chiefly a ghazal singer and also a Bollywood playback singer. Bhupinder Singh was born in Amritsar, Punjab to Natha Singhji, a musician and his introducer to music. Singh started his career as a casual artist for All India Radio under the direction of Satish Bhatia. At the age of 82, Singh died of a cardiac arrest on 18 July 2022. He suffered from COVID-19 and colon cancer was also suspected.
