SWAMI VEDA RAKSHANANDA (pic below) Swamiji was one of my mentors at my Grammar School, Gurukula Kalwa in India. I lived in his company for three years. During this period, I had all the time to observe his disciplined conduct and hear him expound on Phonetics, Poetics, Grammar, Etymology and Philosophy in such a way that western scholars in these very fields of study might have found themselves lacking. I left Kalwa and the Swami’s company in 1980 to go study in other institutions. In 1998, I went back to India and visited Kalwa again. There I saw Swamiji, this time much older. He had written a number of books and I sought to acquire them. When I tried to include a decent monetary gift (dakshina) in the sum-total payment for the books, Swamiji graciously declined, saying that the amount was excessive! In paying tribute to the scholarly, gracious Swami, I unequivocally say that he is the very epitome of scholarship and non-attachment. Look at the way he is dressed. Since he left his home in his mid-teens, he never again saw his parents, siblings, relatives, home and village. Such souls, when they leave by way of death, never walk the earth again. Their mission becomes complete. This note was not easy to write. Namaste!

Justin Lane Garcia 1983 - 2021 Obituary of Justin Lane Garcia Justin Lane Garcia, 37, gained his wings on Friday August 6, 2021. He is survived by his parents; Rudy and Angela Garcia, brother; Matthew Alan Garcia, aunts; Paula Jureski and husband Larry, Annette Mason, Janie Alcala and husband Arturo, uncle; David Garcia, along with numerous cousins. Justin loved his family, and loved cooking for family get togethers. He graduated from LaPorte High School class of 2001. He attended San Jacinto College for 2 years. Justin worked in the food service industry for 15 years. He was the type of guy who never met a stranger, he loved being around people. He was a big Star Wars fan and called himself “Jedi Master”. Justin loved cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Justin served as Past President of the Order of Eagles in LaPorte and Trustee One for the state of Texas. Justin will be missed by many who loved and knew him.
